Importing a Canvas Course

Importing a Class

If you followed the end of the year procedures for Canvas (post here), you may need to import that course from last year into your current course. Follow the steps found in the animation below.

The Calm App - Free to Teachers!


Have You Heard of the Calm App?

As teachers, we know that unique social/emotional challenges can lead to anxiety which can play a large role in our students' daily lives. What can WE do as teachers to provide our students with skills to combat these stressors? Can we teach them ways to cope through mindfulness training? 

The Calm App is a Mindfulness training tool and right now Calm is giving teachers the app for FREE through The Calm Schools Initiative. The Calm App includes:
  • Sleep stories
  • Meditation guides
  • Music to assist with relaxation, focus, etc.
  • Masterclasses
  • Body - relaxation techniques
  • Breathing exercises
  • Scenes (nature and its sounds)
  • and Calm Kids - a collection of programs tailored for PK-High School

Google CourseKit Assignment


If you like the features of Google Classroom, but also like the one-stop shop of Canvas, then Google Course Kit Assignments are for you!
  1. While in Canvas, inside ASSIGNMENTS, click 
  2. Complete the ASSIGNMENT fields such as ASSIGNMENT NAME, POINTS, etc.
    NOTE: If you'd like the assignment points to show in Canvas, include them in the CANVAS POINTS field:
  3. Select EXTERNAL TOOL in the SUBMISSION TYPE field
  4. Click FIND under ENTER OR FIND AN EXTERNAL TOOL URL:
  5. Select GOOGLE COURSE KIT ASSIGNMENT;
  6. Click SIGN IN:
  7. Click 
  8. If applicable, click 
  9. Complete the ASSIGNMENT DETAILS form:
