Genial.ly: Student Engagement for the Win!

Genial.ly: Student Engagement for the Win!

First I am going to start by saying everyone’s favorite word: FREE! I have used Genial.ly for years and have enjoyed the features included in the free version. There are so many options and they do not save the amazing stuff for the premium accounts.

Now that I have your attention, would you like to know what it is?? Genial.ly is one of my go to web tools to create engaging, interactive experiences for students. The great thing about this tool is it replaces and combines a lot of other web tools we have used in the past all in one place so you are not hunting down that interactive lesson you made wondering which tool you made it in. In one place you can create an interactive image like ThingLink and much, much more: Interactive Presentation, Video Presentation, Didactic Unit, School Calendar, Quiz, Quiz Hidden Image, Learning Landscapes, Interactive Image, Magazine Dossier, Interactive Infographic, Timeline, Follow the clues, and a Board game.

Interactive learning has never been easier and more varied! Students often get tired of the same tool used over and over! Wow them with pre-created lessons that you can remix to fit your needs. You do not need design experience because Genial.ly includes a lot already made for you!

Some of my favorite uses:

Student Choice Board

They have even created resources for FREE that are designed to help with remote learning!

They have Google Sign in and other amazing sign in options depending on what your workplace or district uses.

I especially like their YouTube channel. Anytime I need to learn how to do something on Genial.ly, they have created a video!  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtq6w3zpUc5tQYEC6Q8pImg

Notable Women- Experiments with Google

The month of March is National Women's History Month an honorary observance, established by the United States Congress in 1987 to recognize women's numerous achievements throughout history. In honor of Women's History Month, I'd like to share the following application called Notable Women. This website and application allow you to see a portrait of a woman who has been a scientist, writer, artist, business leader, or civic leader on our currency.

This AR experiment lets you see any one of the 100 historic American women and allows you to explore their accomplishments. This website, as well as the app that goes with it, is the product of a remarkable collaboration. This platform was created with teachers and students in mind, and it includes pre-made lessons that you can use. This application contains great content for anyone to enjoy.
