Fight Zombies & MORE with Nearpod

Bell work, morning work, just making sure the warm bodies in your chairs are present and accounted for and their brains are ready and active when they first sit down…. Nearpod has you covered!

Are you seeing glazed over eyes, blank stares, and zombie-like symptoms? With just one slide of a Nearpod engagement activity, you might see color return to faces, smiles, and even participation!

The analytics in Nearpod, the click of a button, and one report, shows you the students active engagement per session! Easy peasy attendance report! No need to call out names and hear the strangled groans coming from your classroom!

How am I going to use this to captivate their minds you ask? Nearpod has interactive slides that can engross students with as well as give you everything you need as a teacher to run your classroom.

Make your way to www.nearpod.com and sign in. Keller uses Google Sign on to access Nearpod. In your My Lessons click Create and choose Activity.

Nearpod activities are single slides you can add into a Nearpod lesson and use to pull the students in. Add one of the Activities and you have one slide that engages the students in spiral review, attention getters, ice breakers, however you want to revive their zombie brain back to the land of the living at the beginning, middle or even end of class.

Quick start activities include matching pairs, time to climb, draw it, and drag and drop. These quick activities are great for pre assessment, post assessment, or even spiral review.

Matching pairs allows students to match images or text to its pair just as the name implies. Have students match images to their corresponding definitions, words to definitions, or simply have them pair items like milk and cookies.

Time to Climb is an interactive quiz experience where students can compete and gain points to be the first to scale the mountain and win! This is great to add the competitive edge to any review!

Using draw it students can draw their answers, use images, or text to respond to a prompt or query.

Finally, drag and drop uses a word or image bank for students to pull from and drop into a fill in the blank image or text.

By using any of the activities, you have given your students an opportunity to engage in your curriculum as well as take care of some of your administrative duties in the classroom such as attendance, pre and post assessments, and much more!!

Zombies be gone!

Nearpod has an entire arsenal of activities beyond the quick start activities. Their activities allow you to put in content to catch your student’s attention and give you some valuable feedback. Change things up and keep those zombies at bay!

Now you are ready to build a slide in Nearpod and Go Live!
